Implement Continuous Delivery with Traditional App Dev Processes
Be More Agile with Continuous Delivery
Continuous Delivery is defined as releasing high quality software into production quickly, through build, test and application release automation. The process allows development teams to release software into the “wild” in minutes, as opposed to days or even weeks.
Continuous Delivery is tremendously valuable for applications developed in agile environments. It improves the rate of application deployment into production, as well as the quality of the production release. Additionally, it reduces the bottleneck of application changes flowing to the production environment.
But Continuous Delivery is not appropriate for all application deployments. While it is a good fit for development teams deploying changes into test, it probably isn’t appropriate for these same teams to deploy changes into production. Hence, deployments into production follow the traditional stage gate methodology and are handled by IT Operations.
Listen as Julian Fish, Product Owner for Serena Release Manager, explains how you can implement Continuous Delivery as quickly as possible while still supporting the traditional stage gate delivery process.
