DOD Webcast Series: Manage your Requirements More Effectively with Serena's SBM and Dimensions RM
Serena's DOD customers create and maintain some of the most complex systems in the world. Change, whether to embedded systems, systems used for command and control, or to manage day to day operations, has to be gathered far and wide.
While some of that change is straightforward and can be quickly vetted, approved and assigned, other change requires more in-depth analysis. That is, requests for new modules, substantially modified capabilities, or entirely new systems must go through a formal requirements management process. This process entails Traceability between requirements and other entities (e.g. test cases, other systems), Change Management preventing unauthorized change and making change in a systematic way, and Communication in the form of comments, polls and email notification. All this with explicit ties between Requirements and Source Code (DimensionsCM).

This webcast that demonstrates a solution that ties together Change Management, Requirements Management, and Configuration Management. It automates gathering requests for change, and enables analysis of the proposed change, including formal impact analysis if necesary. Once ready, the approved change(s) are inserted into Serena's Configuration Management solution (Dimension CM) for fulfillment. The advantage of this approach is that by using the right tool for the right job in an integrated way nothing is left to error prone manual steps.
